About
VEHICLE
– 2005 Ford F-550 box truck
– Transmission: Automatic
– Engine: Triton V10, gas
– Mileage: 87k
ELECTRICAL
– Battle Born® lithium battery bank.
– Victron Energy® Multiplus 3000W inverter/charger (12VDC → 120VAC pure sine wave). Can plug into shore power or run off-the-grid.
– Renogy® 600W solar panel array with 50amp charge controller, mounted on pneumatic struts for optimal absorption.
– Four 120VAC wall outlets on 2 x 20amp circuits.
KITCHEN
– Gorgeous double-bowl sink with removable countertop extender / sink cover (not pictured). Faucet runs cold or hot water on demand.
– DC powered refrigerator by Unique® (10.3 cu. ft., Danfoss/Secop compressor)
– Propane convection oven / range by Unique® (24 in. 2.9 cu. ft., 4 sealed burners)
BATHROOM
– Instantly hot water
– 2ft × 4ft shower area
– Retractable composting toilet with urine diverter. It sounds strange, but it works flawlessly.
– 12VDC ceiling ventilation fan
– Medicine cabinet with interior and exterior mirrors
FURNISHINGS
– Queen loft bed (mattress not included) with ample headroom
– Drawers for clothing or other bulk storage items
– Large closet space with included wooden hangers
– Open ceiling storage. Great place to display books, vinyl records, houseplants, etc.
– Office nook with beautiful midcentury-modern office chair + computer monitor arm.
– Kitchen under-counter space for trash / recycling cans and space for other storage (cleaning supplies, reusable bags, etc)
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
– Dimmable recessed LED lighting throughout
– Newport wood stove by Dickinson Marine® (8000 BTU output)
– WiFi. This tiny home has two cellular antennas, a cell-signal booster, and a cellular modem. All you have to do is provide a data SIM card, which costs around $20/month for most carriers. I’ve been teaching remotely off of this WiFi in a rural area for the last year, and it has worked great.
– Four backup/sideview cameras and a viewing monitor in the cab. Backup or merge into oncoming traffic without worry. Leave it on overnight to record suspicious activity while you’re away.
– Motion-activated porch light.
DETAILS
– All furnishings made with various real woods: wall paneling is cedar, cabinet doors are maple, cabinet frames are red oak, trim is mixture of hemlock and pine
– Waterproof vinyl flooring with hardwood veneer by SmartCore®
– Insulated with 2 inch foil faced polyisocyanurate (lightweight with highest R-value per inch of any rigid board insulation)
– Windowsills framed with two small oak dowels, which allows for window plants even while on the road
OUTSIDE
– Two large chassis-welded steel job boxes
– Massive shed on back on truck for water heater, pump, and bulk storage—great place to store bikes and other large outdoor gear
– Roof deck with interior access via staircase / roof hatch. Built to standard deck specs; it’s strong enough to hold parties up there.
– The roof deck is tapered so that water drains off the sides, and there is a slot where a gutter could be added. With an added downspout, you could add a cistern and collect water to be further off-grid.
THE TRUCK
– Ford F-550 (Triton V10 engine, automatic transmission, gas)
– Three-seat cab with excellent heating / AC
– With the four backup and side-view cameras, the vehicle is easier to drive than it looks
