Iron John- Artist/ Craftsman Cottage

Iron John was built by Artist and Carpenter Mark Cool in 2017 in Efland, NC.

The cottage is 12’ x 12’ x 12’ built from reclaimed and salvaged materials, the majority of which are 100 years old.

This home is not for everyone- no indoor bathroom- Mark built an outdoor satellite bathroom and outdoor shower to service the cabin.

Amenities: propane gas cooktop, blue flame propane heater, mini-split heat/ AC, under sink instant hot water heater. There’s also a hidden TV that flips down.

Features: Concrete countertop, hardwood floors, built in bookshelf, custom made cabinets, exposed beams, antique doors and windows, dog door, kitchen exhaust fan.

Other: R-19 insulated walls and ceiling.
Closets on 1st floor and in loft. Built with 2” x 6” pine frame.
