About
Prototype Model of the Award-Winning Crib. The Crib is designed as a kit of parts to be assembled on your site. The prototype is currently installed in the sculpture garden at the Strathmore Arts Center in North Bethesda, Maryland. The building is for sale to be removed from the site by the purchaser and relocated to the purchaser's property.
The Crib was originally designed as a weekend cottage for one to four people. It can also be used as a backyard office, studio, or guest room. If it is used for a house, cabin or guest suite we would suggest assembling The Crib on a full-height foundation level that we have designed to accommodate a bathroom, mechanical equipment, and a small bedroom or office. The prototype's office-in-a-box can be transformed into a kitchen-in-a-box.
Please see www.thecrib.info for a wealth of additional information about The Crib.
The Crib is certainly not the least expensive thing you can buy, but it is a very cool and structurally substantial little building. Think of it as living in a piece of furniture or in a sculpture.

The building is comprised of about 435 square feet including the main living level, the decks and the loft. If the habitable foundation is constructed that would bring the total up to about 600 square feet.
Construction drawings for the foundation are available upon request.
