About
My wife and I have a 20ft x 8.5ft home built on a trailer that we are putting up for sale. We built it and have lived in it for a year and a half. It is licensed as a "homemade RV" and has license plates. The home is wonderful, we really enjoy it but, surprisingly have decided to move into something smaller. It has a composting toilet, shower, tiled bathroom floor, double basin sink, two burner alcohol stove (this needs new seals to operate correctly so we have been using a electric single burner cooktop), tiled hearth for wood stove, and many built in storage areas. Sleeping is in an elevated loft that fits a queen size bed. There is an extra storage loft and built in bookshelves and additional kitchen shelves. We have lived in this home for over a year and a half full-time and have absolutely loved it. We want to continue to try and downsize a little bit more so are putting our home up for sale.
We originally built it with the idea of using it as a mother-in-law home after we purchased a larger home but fell in love with micro-living. The trailer has not been officially weighed but, based off of the materials used and other comparable trailers, I would guess (a very educated one) that this trailer weighs around 8500lbs. It is based off of a 20' 2006 terry trailer that we reinforced with heavier duty steel and put dual 6k lb axles under it. It trailers very well. I have had it up to 60 mph and it handled very well.
