About

This is a small, rustic, one room, a-frame cabin in the woods on just under 0.5 acres. It is on the road system on Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska.

Whale Pass is a small bush community of about 40 people where the year-rounders practice a subsistence lifestyle. People hunt and fish and have gardens. It is a place where people help each other out and watch out for each other. We, the owners of the cabin, live here, so you are welcome to ask us questions about the area.

There are no stores in Whale Pass, but you can go to Craig or Klawock (2 hour drive) for groceries, hardware, etc. You can get gasoline in Whale Pass (You have to go find William and tell him you need some :-)) There is one church in Whale Pass.

We only get mail on Saturday and Tuesdays -- when the planes are flying. We might have to wait a day or more if the weather is too bad for the float planes to fly.

This cabin is wired for electric, but it is not hooked up. It will be easy to do, as the electric is right at the road. It is also plumbed for the little sink, but that is not hooked up either. It has a rudimentary rain catch system with a rain barrel, at the moment.

It has a wood stove for heat. It has a Coleman stove and propane light for use at this time, until the electricity is hooked up.

The bathroom is an outhouse.
