About
At 22’ long and built on a tandem axle trailer fabricated by Visto Trailers in Fargo, ND, this listing is a perfect example of comfortable, cozy, and functional. Featured in Design & Living Magazine’s 2017 June issue, it is easy to see how the designer spent countless hours thinking about design elements and aesthetic elements.
The exterior of the home is cedar siding wrapped around 9 windows (6 operable and all low-E) that match the crimson red standing seam metal roofing. The entry to the home is inset 2.5 feet on the short end making a nice bump out that also functions as a sitting/reading nook inside. Once in the home, the layout is a great mix of natural woods including cedar ceiling, hickory hardwood floors, butcher block countertop, and Douglas Fir exposed beams.
Directly in front of the entry door is a drop-down table perfect for eating and also working from home. The table creates an L-shape at the end as a bookcase rounds out the space. Just at the door is the ladder leading up to the smaller of the two sleeping lofts. It is primarily for storage but can be a great hideout for a child or a hobby error for storing crafts and such.
The kitchen - which is the main part of the home - is anchored by a large base cabinet with both doors and drawers. The kitchen also features a Whirlpool 17.6 cu.ft. fridge/freezer, a built-in microwave, and a 20” wide oven/range. Excellent space!
One true advantage of this tiny house on wheels is the two skylights (1 operable and 1 fixed) that let in ample ambient light, especially as you head the main sleeping loft just above the bathroom. It is a fairly unremarkable space although it does have two sliding windows for ventilation and cross-breeze, and the exploded dormers that give much desired extra headroom while in the space. The sleeping loft is accessible only be ladder but once up there, it is a perfect spot for a quick nap.
Under the sleeping loft is the bathroom which has a fiberglass shower stall, corrugated metal bathroom walls, a composting toilet, and a small sink for washing up. The room is private thanks to a pocket door. To keep the shower warm (as well as all the other water fixtures in the house) the THOW has a tankless hot water heater powered by two 40lb. Propane tanks.
The home is fully electric, but mostly uses propane and has a 100-gallon water tank to allow for no water well situations. There is also an electric 1.6 cubic foot washing machine inside. To keep the home warm in winter and cool during the summer there is also 2”+1.5” FOAMULAR rigid foam board insulation panels with spray foam around the edges for an air-tight seal.
You simply aren’t going to find a nice home at this price point. Don’t delay. This listing won’t last long. Call Chelsea at 843-417-9157 or email her at Chelsea@tinyhouselistings.com for more information. Financing may be available.
