About
What makes a tiny house, well, a tiny house? Is there a definition? Certainly not for those living full-time in a manufactured recreation vehicle or travel trailer. Have you ever considered living in an RV? Now’s the time. Meet Bubba, a 2006 Forest River Cedar Creek Silverback. Bubba is 35' and has been completely remodeled inside by a professional designer.
The floorplan of the 5th wheel tiny home has the master bed and bath over the hitch, a kitchen in the middle of the rig as well as a living room and dining area, and then a rear seating area and double guest bunks. All of this is possible thanks to 3 separate slides - one in the master suite, one large slide mid-rig, and then another in the rear of the camper. And while the outside is still almost identical to how it left the sales floor the inside is impeccable with more luxuries than most traditional sticks ‘n bricks homes.
The first thing one might notice when walking into Bubba is the brightness and openness he projects. This is largely because all of the original shades, cornice boards, and cabinets have been removed. The walls have all been painted a pale ivory color and a wainscoting effect has been added. The only two wood trims left - the mid-rig slide and the rear slide - have been replaced with light mahogany-stained pine. The cabinets and cubbies that most RVs are known for have either been removed altogether or replaced with open shelving that matches the trim color.
The kitchen is a small L-shape with a butcher block countertop and a few drawers underneath. There is a stainless steel sink and a 4-burner stove/oven combo. Tucked into a cubby is an RV-size fridge/freezer and a microwave. It is not huge but is certainly functional.
Just across from the kitchen is the large slide, which was once home to a large couch and a banquette for dining or Friday night board game night. It has since been replaced with an oversized leather couch (with shelf above) and a work desk at the large window which formerly served as the dining area.
The entire front of the 5th wheel is the bedroom and bathroom. The bed is an RV king and uses the front slide as a sort of cubby for the headboard. The bed area has two small windows for ventilation and lifts for a bit of extra storage. The room features both a sliding door closet and a dresser at the foot of the bed. The shower is an open-concept feature that has the shower opening right up into the bedroom but is surrounded by curtains. It is just the right touch of style and function unfamiliar to the RV world. The bedroom does have a flat-screen television and there is a hybrid washer/dryer in the closet.
The rear of the Forest River which was originally a bunk room with a small bath is now a modern bunk room and table seating for four! The list just continues though. Not a surface nor a material has been left untouched to create one of the homiest 5th-wheel tiny houses on the market. It would either make an incredible home to travel the country in or as a solid investment for an Airbnb property. The THOW comes fully furnished as well and has recently had the rooftop rubber redone.
