About
At 39 feet long it is hard to call this beautiful listing a tiny house. But because he is situated on two axles and has a Cummins 6.7 liter turbo diesel engine under the hood, it is easy to label Sir Thomas Elkhart III (his given name!) a mobile mansion.
Born in 2008 in High Point, North Carolina and converted within the last few years there is little this rig isn’t able to do. It has served well toting a family of 4 from coast to coast and a number of destinations in between. Sir Elkhart is reliable as well, moving to and fro thanks to an Allison automatic transmission. The tiny home on wheels is registered and titled as a motorhome out of Vermont so insurance and plates are of little concern.
Dressed in a coat of green-grey paint, the bus has been modified in that it no longer has all of its original windows but rather gives more privacy and more interior room with its sheet metal additions.
Entry into the bus leads directly into the living room area complete with a hanging flatscreen LED television. There is also a futon that provides sleeping accommodations for two guests or lazy days in front of Netflix. Just beyond the front room is the kitchen which features a 4-burner stove/oven powered by a 36-gallon ASME propane tank, a 10.7 cubic foot refrigerator/freezer, and a number of full-size cabinets, both upper and lower. At mealtime, there is a dropdown table at the end of the countertop. It is important to point out that the rig can also have 105 gallons of fresh water on board and has a 67-gallon grey water tank.
Just beyond the kitchen is the bathroom on one side and the bunk room on the other. The bunk room is fairly standard allowing room for two children to sleep comfortably and safely.
The rear of Sir Elkhart is dedicated to a queen-size bed that offers comfort and privacy. There is a wall-mounted television, under-bed storage, and even locking side storage compartments.
With almost 2,000 watts of solar, 8 Battleborn 24-volt lithium phosphate batteries, and Victron components, the electrical system is ample to stay off-grid and adventure even where the road may end. Sir Thomas Elkhart III is ready to be your trusty steed as you take on the highways and bi-ways of this great nation. Don’t delay though. At this price, he won’t last long in this kingdom.
