At 30 ft. long this 2001 International allows for a very spacious and well-designed 20 full feet of living space including 8 side windows (on each side) and the driver’s cockpit. Under the hood is a DT466 engine with 251,956 miles on the odometer. That equates to just 10,226 hours of running time. In 2015, the bus received a new computer board and then in 2020, it was outfitted with a new radiator and new batteries. To keep Rou Bus from getting completely out of hand, the bus has air brakes to stop her tires, which are barely two years old!

The wavy, fun paint job is nothing less than Sherwin Williams marine grade exterior paint while the roof of the bus is Henry’s Tropi-cool. It is also worth noting that the top caution lights are covered with clear lenses so they can be used as outside floodlights. The attention to detail is everywhere with this conversion!

The first stop inside the bus is the cockpit where the traditional metal and plastic dash has been replaced with wood instrument paneling and a new radio with speakers in the front and rear of the bus. There is a cup holder added for convenient snacking and rehydrating while driving, a clever storage cabinet in the entryway complete with shoe cubbies, a fan on the dashboard, a rearview camera, and even a push-button start!

Moving inside the main part of the bus is a custom sofa to the left and the kitchen workspace to the right. The sofa is made of 8-inch memory foam with a removable cover and lifts up for storage, while also sliding out into a full-size bed. For daytime use and transit, there are seat belts included in the sofa and for the tech-savvy owner, there is an outlet with USB ports on either side of the couch.

The kitchen is primarily a long, base cabinet with upper cabinets overhead. The countertops are custom pine and situation almost in the middle is a 23-inch under-mount, stainless steel sink. There is a wood board that matches the countertop to add prep space when not using the sink. The faucet is a pull-down sprayer and the sink drawer front tips out and has a tray for sponge or wash rag storage. A brand new 700-watt countertop microwave also comes in the kitchen in case you don’t want to cook on the two-burner, electric induction stovetop! Just past the countertop is a Thomson 7.5 cubic foot freezer/fridge unit that is fully electric and is actually strapped in to keep from moving during travel. . Dishwater stays warm thanks to a 4-gallon electric water heater.

Moving through the bus you are treated to vinyl plank flooring throughout that is even in the storage areas under the bed and sofa. The walls and ceiling are pine T&G while the toilet room, shower, and closet have cedar T&G.

All of the windows throughout the rig have custom curtains that include 90% UV blocking mesh lining. In the front of the bus and in the bedroom are color-changing LED lights while all the task lighting is battery operated. There are two smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the tiny house on wheels as well.

Keeping warm in the winter and cool in the summer is no problem as Rou Bus has a 9000 BTU Pioneer mini-split system wired for electric only.

There are a number of GCFI outlets throughout which truly helps when you are wanting to watch one of the two 24” Fire TV’s (one above the dashboard in front and one in the bedroom).

The entire bus is insulated with ¾ inch foam. There is a 46-gallon freshwater tank under the bed and a gray water tank under the bus itself. The bus uses a water pump and relies on a 50-amp shore power hookup.

Beyond the kitchen is the bathroom split into a toilet room a tub/shower compartment. The commode is a Nature’s Head composting toilet (with a functioning vent fan) while the shower compartment has a shower wand and a custom stained glass privacy window. The tub is separate from the shower and measures 24” x 36” with a center drain.

For the traveling professional or owner who needs storage for a lifestyle of activity, there is a large cedar closet with custom doors made of old fence boards in the bus as well. The bottom closet has a cat door for access to the litter box and even has an outlet in case a vent is needed. The closet portion above the litter box storage has shelves while the main close has a hanging rod and is full length for longer and larger items.

The bedroom itself is quite spacious as it features a queen-size 10-inch memory foam mattress with bed lifts for storage underneath. There is a side cabinet door to access under the bed from the handicap side entry. One large and two small drawers under the bed can easily be accessed from inside the bus and there are two small shelves above each side of the bed. Each side of the bed also has a GFCI outlet with USB ports for device charging during the night. There is a flip-down shelf in the bedroom near the corner TV on which to store a DVD player or game system of your choice. The bus itself is also wired so that the TVs can enjoy satellite when available.
