About
Skoolies are every bit the rage now and the more custom, the better. From rock ‘n roll style bunk beds to secret cat doors, there is nothing builders, renovators, and dreamers aren’t willing to try. This listing was bought from an Anchor Bay, Michigan school auction and then gutted, sealed off, and customized, each and every inch! Who wouldn’t want to own this incredible 2003 Thomas, flat-nose Off Grid Skoolie? For less than the cost of a full-size SUV it can be yours and you can hit the road to sights from one coast of America to another!
After being gutted the floor began with stud framing with 2.5” foam board. The walls and ceiling are spray foam insulated and then covered with white painted utility ply. The entry of the bus is rather original with a comfortable captain’s chair, a school bus instrument panel, and a large front window. The standard ends there though as the ceiling turns to ¼” tongue and groove raw cedar and the flooring becomes ¾” tongue & groove laminate.
Just past the driver’s area, the bus opens up into a spacious living area complete with dueling, and custom couches. Two couches include storage underneath and convert into a king-size bed!
The living area effortlessly moves into a kitchen galley space that includes an oven and stove, a fridge/freezer combo, a small sink, butcher-block countertops, and a very cool subway tile backsplash.
Separating the main portion of the skoolie and the bedroom is a hallway with two closets. There is also a lovely bathroom clad in black and white mosaic tile and a Nebia by Moen spa showerhead. In regards to plumbing, the entire bus has standard ½ inch PEX plumbing, a SHURflo RV water pump, a 100-gallon fresh water tank, and a 100-gallon grey water tank. The bathroom also has an Air Head composting toilet.
Approaching the back of the bus, the hallway opens up into a full bedroom large enough for a queen-size bed that includes a storage compartment underneath. There are also two large windows in the bedroom that help keep the temperature comfortable no matter what your geographical location.
Also in the tiny house on wheels are two custom skylights: one in the front that opens and one in the rear that is for observation only. In addition, there is a solar “garage” in the very back of the bus that is accessible by an outside entrance only.
Wired like a house with a breaker box with plenty of open slots. Most parts of the bus are run off the solar setup which includes 8 solar panels (285 watts each), a 60amp solar charger, an AIMS inverter charger, a 48V 800amp hour AGM battery bank, a 48V converter, and a Victron battery voltage reader (with Bluetooth app). The school bus is also wired for 30amp shore power. Every system on this bus is created in the simplest, most effective way right down to the included 3500-watt generator.
This listing is simply too good to be true. But with a purchase price of $58k it is certainly obtainable. Contact Ashley at 704-508-9046 or email at Ashley@tinyhouselistings.com to find out more details or to make an offer.
