About
Just as the wheels on a bus (or a skoolie) go ‘round, so does life. Or as the Byrds sang, “To everything (turn, turn, turn) There is a season (turn, turn, turn)”. And the season for the lister of this beautiful 2002 Blue Bird skoolie has turned and now it is time for another owner. Purchased in Tennessee in 2019 and converted over the next two years, it features a 5.9 24v Cummins engine with Allison transmission. The engine has 14,500 original miles and air brakes.
The bus entry has been changed from a standard bus door to a residential door with 12 glass panes. The driver's cockpit has been modified a bit but the entire interior of the tiny house on wheels has been modified and customized. To the left of the door is an open space that currently houses a kennel for a beloved pet. It could easily be reappropriated though. Across the aisle from it is a closet that provides a great deal of storage. Moving down the wall from the closet is a comfortable couch with a full-size woodstove across from it. Such a wonderfully cozy space.
Moving beyond the sitting area is the kitchen; both functional and stylish. The kitchen is on both sides of the aisle. Both countertops are butcher block but one side has a double stainless steel sink set into a base cabinet with two sets of double doors and a set of 3 drawers. Across is a live-edge wooden countertop, which makes a perfect breakfast bar or workspace. Right next to it is a cabinet with a 21”, 3-burner, brushed metal gas stove and oven, RV style with a plexiglass lid. The kitchen is complete with a 10.4 cubic ft. 12-volt refrigerator and an open shelf with a safety bar to keep things from falling during traveling.
Moving through the schoolbus towards the back bedroom is a bathroom with a full shower stall as well as a Splendide washer/dryer combo. The water is kept warm throughout the bus thanks to an Excel propane instant hot water heater. In addition, the skoolie has a 75-gallon freshwater holding tank, a 40-gallon black water tank, and a 46-gallon grey water tank.
The rear of the bus has a platform queen-size bed which allows for storage underneath and it is incredibly cozy for you. Like the rest of the home, the windows have sewn fabric blackout curtains for complete privacy. Above the bed is a 12,000 BTU mini split 110V AC for ultimate comfort.
The Blue Bird is also equipped for off-grid living. It has 1540 watts of solar panels, a Victron Smartsolar MPPT 150/85 solar charge controller, a Victron Multiplus 24V 3000va 70-amp inverter charger, all feeding into 400ah Battle Born lithium batteries.
