About

For several years the tiny house market was exploding. Prices were up, quality was up, and desire was up. Those days are over for the moment and it is a buyers market, making it a perfect time for you to purchase a bus like this beautiful, professionally converted school bus; a tiny house on wheels, if you will.

With a manual 5-speed transmission, this GMC 13 window conventional school bus is powered by the original GM Big Block 454 7.4L V8 Vortec engine with only 162,928 miles. It is even titled as a motorhome, which is a huge plus! The skoolie can be plugged into 30-amp service and also standard 110 voltage.

The cockpit of the bus is fairly unremarkable with its stock seat and empty dash. In fact, it seems more like a seat placed squarely in a pantry, but painted white! Above the driver’s seat is a series of storage shelves and shiplap ceiling planks. Behind the seat is a bench that extends into an additional bed that doubles as a longer couch. There are built-in LED ceiling lights that even work when not plugged in (thanks to the solar system!)

Beyond the living room is the kitchen that extends onto both sides of the bus. It is more than spacious and is an excellent place to prepare meals or entertain. Included is room for a microwave, kitchen countertop appliances, or even decor and homey items. The countertop with the stove is 9-feet long and the countertop with the sink is 63” long. The propane gas stove has 4 burners, and the farm-style sink is huge with a dual-function faucet. The included mini-fridge is a 32” Haier but there is room for a 56” tall fridge. An on-demand hot water tank is under the sink and keeps the hot water in both the kitchen and the bathroom flowing.

The kitchen also houses part of the temperature control system; a “Newport by Dickinson” marine heater. Adding to the coziness of the tiny house is that the floor, walls, and ceiling are thoroughly insulated. For extra insulation, the THOW comes with custom curtains made of insulating material. They are incredibly effective in keeping the cold outside. There is also a rooftop mini-split system that helps heat and cool the home. In addition, two max fans that run on battery provide a nice extra breeze for air circulation and venting.

Just before the bedroom located at the rear of the bus is a small bathroom compartment that is equipped with a shower stall and a composting toilet. It is a very functional space, perfect for keeping your school bus rolling down the road with no need to stop. It helps too that there is a 50-gallon freshwater tank and 50-gallon grey water tank along with a Seaflo water pump.

When you do stop rolling down America’s highways and byways, and decide to rest a bit, the bedroom at the rear of the bus is beyond cozy with its queen mattress, and functional rear door that opens up to the nature that is your backyard. For privacy and climate control on those boondocking nights in the Walmart parking lot, there are curtains with fleece on the back to warm you and keep the world out of your slumber. You can also open the surrounding windows for ventilation. In addition, there is another max fan overhead. Under the bed, there are 2 deep drawers, 1 huge movable wooden storage box that can be used as a chair or be stored away, and also 2 large storage compartments perfect for storing linens and sheets.

When you do open up the backdoor there is also more room to store suitcases, outdoor supplies, gas, etc. It is a perfect space for storing a large generator and even some tools!

The Blue Bungalow skoolie is currently reliant on shore power but it is wired for solar. It needs only the panels to be installed. Once it is off-grid the stove, heater, fans, water pump, and hot water heater will work perfectly for true off-grid living.
