Your home should be a respite from the outside world. It should be a place to relax, unwind, and find your own silence to the deafening noises of everyday life. That is just what this tiny house on wheels does and it can become your solace for an incredibly reasonable price.
Built by a professional contractor on a triple axle flatbed trailer, the home is 30 feet long and offers 320 square feet of living space. The design is unusual but in an attractive way. It isn’t just a rectangle on wheels but rather with angled corners and a mid-loft. With eight windows including gliding windows in the left area, there is ample natural light and allowance for breeze and ventilation. The exterior is painted a greyish tan with darker-toned trim work. The roof is corrugated metal with proper flashing and a small even for drainage. At the tongue of the trailer is a storage area.
The interior of the home is truly breathtaking as it provides such a peaceful vibe. The flooring is bamboo, the stairs and kitchen cabinets are custom built, and there are subtle infusions of bamboo shoots throughout. Upon entering the front door thrown into a sort of foyer with one direction leading to the mixed-use area and the other direction leading toward the bathroom.
The mixed-use space is a large space with bamboo flooring with a sort of “rainwashed” paint on the walls. There are a lot of exposed beams in the space projecting a sort of Asian temple feeling but also paying homage to Craftsman architecture. The room is lit with uplighting from the ceiling trim rather than more traditional downward cans.
Moving from the living room to the bathroom you first come upon the kitchen which features base cabinetry, exposed shelving on the walls, a stainless steel farm sink, a full-size stove/oven, and a full-size refrigerator/freezer. It is hard to believe a kitchen like this exists in a THOW. The private bathroom is just beyond the kitchen and is equipped with a vanity and wooden bowl sink, a compost toilet, and a shower stall lined with river rock. There is also shelving in the bathroom for linens, toiletries, etc.
Back out into the middle portion of the home is the staircase leading up to the sleeping loft. It is a good size and accommodates a queen size bed. Lighting is by sconce lights on either side of the mattress.
