About
A beautiful tiny house built on a 24ft trailer. I am a furniture maker/designer by day and designed and built the entire house myself with help from my wife and family. The focus of the design was in keeping the layout open and airy but also creating separate feeling spaces. The kitchen is wonderfully abundant in space because I feel that the kitchen is the heart of a house. (cabinet doors will be installed this week) Refrigerator and freezer come with the house. We have a full 32" square shower stall with plenty of closet space in the bathroom. We have a 55 gallon water tank, RV pump, and Rheem on-demand hot water heater. All you need to live in it is a french drain for greywater(or a city hookup), a composting toilet, and a 20" range.
There are two overhead lofts for storage which we barely even need to use with all of the lower storage. Custom french doors allow your living space to flow seamlessly outdoors.
We have lived in it with our bed in the corner but it was designed for either a futon style bed or sleeper sofa, or I can build in a folding bed/storage space as per my original design. We have lived in the house for 11 months and absolutely love it, I never want to live in a bigger house. That said we are selling the house in order to buy a piece of land and build a 120sq ft house! I will try to get some bathroom shots posted soon as well.
Land is not included in the price, we have been renting land from a friend so the house will have to be moved. Moving prices run about $1.50 per mile and the house in theory can be moved almost anywhere in the US for a price.
The cost of this house ($185/sqft) is on par with the average cost per square foot of the average house in Taos, NM. This does not take into account the craftsmanship, quality of materials used, nor the efficiency of energy use (roughly $40 per month).

Solid Cherry counter tops and shelves, all LED lighting, Rheem on-demand hot-water heater. Sweet little breakfast bar at the end of the kitchen. Cedar siding, aluminum clad windows and doors by sierra pacific, galvanized siding and roofing. Built on a 24' 14000lb dual axle trailer. 6" rigid foam in floor and ceiling, 4" in walls. Dickinson marine propane stove keeps the space toasty, even in -23 degree F temperatures that we had this past winter. Cable ties provide structural support with a modern look.
