"The Lookout"

“The Lookout” An immaculate tiny home built by Tiny House Chattanooga. Voted People’s Choice Best in Show at the August 2016 Tiny House Jamboree, truly an honor, as voted on amidst 48 other tiny homes. This brand new model is elegantly spacious and was designed for the folks that do not want to climb in a loft, and relish good closet space! Let’s begin with the exterior. This home’s foundation is a 26 foot, triple axel gooseneck trailer with a 7 foot platform on the gooseneck, offering a total length if 34 feet. A galvanized steel frame provides the greatest strength to weight ratio, 25 time stronger and 50-60% lighter than wood framing. The frame is sided with Quality Edge steel siding, an extremely durable and light weight product with the look of washed wood grain.

The siding is foam backed & attached to zip-wall structural sheathing with a half inch polyiso foam layer to cause a thermal break between the sheathing and the steel frame. When coupled with the closed cell foam insulation with an R7 per inch value, it yields a supremely insulated unit. A pair of auto fresh air exchangers keeps the freshness flowing. The roof is Onduvilla shingles, it has a limited lifetime warranty and 150 mph wind rating. The light flows through with low E, argon filled double pane windows, and a Velux roof window provides a view of the night sky as well as a second point of egress. Enter through the double french front doors and step onto the walnut toned engineered hardwood floor which runs throughout the home. Straight ahead is a versatile kitchen appointed with an 18" x 18" deep stainless steel sink, 3 burner stainless propane stove/oven, 10.4 cubic foot stainless electric refrigerator/freezer and Splendide vented washer/dryer combo.

Custom cabinetry and shelving include a spice rack and wine rack, butcher block countertop and open butcher block shelves. The kitchen is completed with a fold down butcher block dining table/bar. The butcher block is continued to the left on stairs that lead up to the living room/entertainment loft. This area is a centerpiece of the home, set off by a feature wall with an intricate design of natural tone hickory planks. To the right of the kitchen is the full bathroom, where every day is a spa day as you step into the glass enclosed tiger wood shower with galvalume non-rust sheet backing, fed by an on demand propane water heater. The commode is a Natures Head composting toilet. The space above the bathroom comprises the wardrobe loft, including custom cabinetry and divided generous hanging closet space. This space, as well as the bedroom, is reached by the second set of butcher block stairs that include recessed storage space built in.

The best part about both lofts? You walk up and you STAND UP!. There is ample space for a queen size bed, and a skylight with a shade to block the morning sun. The walls throughout the interior are tongue and groove spruce. And if you still need more storage, the rear of the unit has an exterior door to access a vast storage space under the living room loft.  The unit is serviced by a 1 ton mini split providing more than ample heating and cooling, and 2 - 40 lb propane tanks housed under the gooseneck with the compressor. With 299 square feet of luxurious space, this is tiny house living at it's finest and it's just waiting for you to come home! This home is RVIA certified.

*The video below was taken at the 2016 Tiny House Jamboree, the first trip for The Lookout. The unit had some fabulous feedback, and one repeated suggestion was to rearrange the layout of the bed and dressing areas over the gooseneck. We value our customer's input, so we recently renovated this space (as seen in the pictures) with the dressing/cabinetry area in the taller part of the gooseneck and the bed on the raised loft. If the buyer wished the space to be returned to the original layout, no problem.
