There are 2 towns close by, La Veta, a super quaint town with restaurants, Charlies Market, coffee shops, art galleries and events. Then Walsenburg, a good 'ol cowboy/farmer town with nice library, shops and large grocery stores, dollar stores etc.
The County has no concerns for the area where the house is except to maintain the roads, and they are nice, but this property is on a no covenants area and they just never bother anyone, my neighbor has built onto his off grid house with buildings, septic etc with no permits and no problems.
The scenery is magical, with antelope, deer, and cows roaming freely.
The climate is lovely, winters are typical Colorado, snowy but sunny, but the flat land make it simple to live with ie, no shadowy trees causing snow and ice build up, no steep driveways to plow, front wheel drive is sufficient in this area unless you get a big snow, then you might have to get a cup of coffee and just wait a day :-)
The house is brand new and constructed of 2x4 and 2x6 roof, Pro Panel and treated exterior for super weather proof and low maintenance.
I was going to build out a bathroom, shower and solar battery room, plumb a simple cistern system that drained into the garden but I received a job offer I couldn't refuse in Denver and didn't even get started on my nice plans…, I wish I could just hold onto it for a few years,
but I can't :-(
