8’x20’ Off-Grid-Ready Tiny House with Rustic Modern Finishes

Seller built this 8’x20’ custom tiny house on wheels and lived in it for several years in Duluth, MN where the climate ranges from -30F in the winter to 95F in the summer. Reclaimed and salvaged materials were used as widely as possible during the build, with a design that’s a perfect balance of rustic and modern finishes. Would make a cozy spot for year-round living or a great cabin for weekend getaways!

This tiny house is designed for off-grid living but can easily plug into shore power if available. Space is divided into two sleeping lofts, entryway, living room, kitchen, office nook, and bathroom.

Comfortably sleeps three people and can fit four if two people squeeze into the “guest loft” (which fits a twin mattress). Main loft easily fits a queen size mattress. Featuring a large and unique trapezoidal window, the main loft gets amazing light and views of the sky, whether it’s waking up to a bright sunrise or falling asleep while gazing up at the stars. Both lofts include a reading light and built-in shelving for storage. An overhead fan keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

How warm does this tiny house stay in the winter? A modern and efficient wood stove provides plenty of heat to stay cozy even in frigid northwoods winters (where the sellers lived comfortably in the tiny house even when outside temps dropped down to -30F or lower!).

In addition to the two main sleeping lofts, this tiny house features a functional kitchen and private toilet. The kitchen includes a 4-burner propane stove, faucet with foot pump, 12 cu. ft. fridge with separate freezer, custom butcher block countertops, and plenty of drawer space. Pull-out shelving provides ample pantry space next to the fridge, and live-edge open shelves next to the sink are a great place to display cute mugs or bowls. The bathroom features an environmentally friendly and easy to use composting toilet from Nature’s Head.

This tiny house packs a lot into a small space without feeling cramped. Many visitors commented on how spacious the house felt inside despite its small footprint. High ceilings and an open floor plan contribute to a space that feels calm and functional rather than cramped.
