You’re new tiny house on wheels awaits you in Lubbock, Texas. A Tumbleweed Tiny Homes model - the popular Elm - is a landmark design that offers ample room but with a cozy disposition. This particular build is a steel frame design that is built upon a triple-axle, heavy duty trailer. It features plumbing and electrical like you would find in a more traditional RV but the aesthetic is whimsical and beautiful. Featuring a small front porch with columns, a handrail, and spindles, the home has grey blue plank siding with white trim. There are 17 windows including four in the main sleeping loft and one over the porch that has a unique cathedral arch. The mini-split heat/AC rests on the tongue of the trailer and the electrical and water inlets are on the “driver’s side” of the home in an inconspicuous location.

Entry into the home is at the back end of the trailer, maximizing usable floor space. Upon entry you are immediately offered steps leading up to the main sleeping loft which is quite generous in size. Each step conceals pull-out storage drawers and is a comfortable height for the ascension. The loft itself accommodates a queen size bed plus store and a fun “bump out” that allows for more room downstairs for a closet and built-in bookshelf. At the headboard is a sconce and a switch to control the main lighting in the house. The loft has four casement windows and one window at the headboard. There is ample light in the space and you can enjoy great morning and night time views without ever leaving bed!

Directly across the house - and above the entry door - is a second, but smaller, left. It is built primarily for storage or decoration and instead of having generous ceiling height, follows the angle of the roofline, which is a steep pitch without the dorners of the other. It is supported by beautiful wooden support beams that serve to accentuate the glossy pine exposures throughout the home.

Back downstairs and at the entry is a sort of entrance or small sitting spot that allows for a number of uses including a small workstation, a mud room, a coat rack, etc. Pushing through the house though is room for seats and furniture on the left (across from the stairs) and wall space for hanging a television or your favorite art piece(s). The indoor air handler unit from the mini-split blows directly into this area allowing for a common core temperature throughout the house. There is a small ceiling fan though to help circulate the air.

Underneath the staircase begins the kitchen which is a great size for preparing food or just sharing a glass of wine with a friend. It features a full size stove and oven along with exhaust hood, a larger countertop, a stainless steel sink, a mid-size fridge freezer combo, and ample cabinetry both as a base and on the wall. The kitchen is in an L-shape but stops as the door to the bathroom begins. With a separate stall for the commode and for the shower, there is ample room and privacy for both. In the same general area is a large closet for hanging clothes, storing household items, and more.
