You aren’t looking for any old house. You aren’t looking for any old school bus. You are looking for a customized skoolie that prominently features live edge countertops, bamboo flooring, large windows, and room for multiple people. You are looking for the Skoolie in Ashland, Oregon that is so reasonably priced it is sure to be sold by the time you are finished making your offer!
In 2007 in a large warehouse in Flint, Michigan, this tough Chevy Kodiak C5500 rolled off the assembly line with a diesel engine, dual rear tires, and 28 feet of possibilities. Despite its size it has often been described as an easy and comfortable drive. But in recent years it retired from being a passenger bus and took on it’s true role of home on wheels! Keeping its dual, outward opening doors, and overall aesthetic, it was transformed to a stylish home for the perfect individual, couple, or young family! She is well insulated (R-13 recycled denim batting), stays relatively cool in the summer and holds excellent heat from her cubic mini wood stove. The insulation also acts as a great sound barrier allowing the outside noise to stay outside and not intrude upon sleeping homeowners.
Underneath the bamboo flooring that is featured throughout is 2” of foam insulation. It makes for warm toes during the winter and a great place for your canine companion to lounge about. The walls are finished with pine tongue & groove left natural for a cozy feel.
Once inside the bus the passenger side is the kitchen complete with a small fridge, under-counter cabinets, a 3-burner propane range stove/oven, a deep enamel coated cast iron sink, a bigleaf Maple live edge countertop, and two wonderful windows to help with air circulation. On the kitchen wall is also an on-demand hot water heater that works off propane.
Continuing down the passenger side of the bus is the hanging wood stove that really functions well and keeps the bus warm and cozy when in use. Just beyond that is a wall that separates off the bedroom with its queen size bed complete with piston-powered platform that lifts to reveal a plethora of storage space. The home is already outfitted with a Tuft and Needle mattress in the bedroom.
Moving back towards the captain’s chair down along the driver’s side of the bus is first a long, custom built, fold out couch that turns into an extra bed with an organic natural latex mattress. By day, of course, is a comfortable couch for lounging and enjoying the fireplace. Further down the wall is a cedar drop down dining table that can double as a workspace and hinges up to create a locking cabinet for storage. When open it has shelves for storage. It is quite a clever use of space and utility.
Just before reaching the driving compartment is the bathroom, which straddles both sides of the bus. On the driver’s side is a Nature’s Head composting toilet while the other side is a 24” x 24” shower stall.
The bus features 100v outlets and is wired throughout for 30amp shore power that feeds in through a standard RV plug. The lighting is made possible by recessed LED fixtures. The water throughout is provided through an RV-style water inlet connected to city resources.
This skoolie is not going to last long. It is a beautiful home and is your ticket to freedom along with comfort. To get more details contact Chelsea. Discuss pricing, learn more, or find out about financing.
