La Petite Maison

La Petite Maison is for sale! This house was completed in 2014 and exhibited in the first annual Maker Faire at the White House. It currently sits on a wooded lot in Milford, DE. My daughter and I built this over two years,  but it's time for her to move on to the next adventure.

House is built on a double axle reclaimed mobile home trailer with both axles rated for 13,500 pounds each. New hitch installed for towing, and Teal Brown of Wishbone Tiny Homes (the person who hauled it for us) says the house towed really well. It's exactly 13'6" from level ground to the roof peak.

128 square feet (8' x 16') with a 6x8 loft and another fold out sleeping place on the main floor. Sleeps four people easily (two in the loft and two on the main floor).

Electricity installed under the supervision of a master electrician, plumbing checked by a plumber, and metal roof installed professionally. Overbuilt with R19 insulation and all exterior framing and sheathing glued and screwed. All that to say: built by amateurs under professional supervision.

Deck is stand alone but comes with the house (the lumber); it's put together with screws so that it could be numbered and disassembled for moving.

House comes with brand new Eco-Temp water heater and all appliances, plus hoses, etc.

The decking over the porch needs to be replaced, and tires will most likely also need to be replaced. The shower head in the bathroom leaks, but that is probably a simple fix that we haven't fixed yet.

The house is registered as a homemade enclosed trailer in GA; hauling is the responsibility of the buyer, but depending on where you are going, I can follow you with the current tag in place and then remove it when you get to your destination. Tag expires March 2018 (and so does that offer!!).

If you would like to stay in Delaware (it's about 20 minutes from the beach and parked next to a nature preserve on a road that dead ends in the Delaware Bay), the current landlord has said that they will sign a lease for two or three years.
