Can we just all agree that yurts are about the ugliest form of housing on planet earth?

Am I alone in that thought? If so, I apologize. :-)

Dan, a resounding silence has fallen on planet Earth because no one agrees with your comment. Apology accepted.

i think it is an all or nothing thing. You have to live totally trad herder to make it look right.

ie the Western desk just looks weird, but a low table and a cushion to sit on would be fab!

This one sure has some nice “art” that in my opinion, makes it look pretty good for a yurt!

I actually really like the look of the yurt! I like the idea of living in a home that is not so boxy. I also like to see houses of all different shapes and the ones that don’t look like the typical home that I’m used to usually leave a good impression on me.

I wish I could rent one in Florida to try out before buying to see if it could work for me. I think it could work well at a modern campsite with laundry, showers and internet and maybe cable and would be cost effective.

There is no way you would be able to get a variance for it in Florida, with the hurricane laws which are in place, with good reason I add…! But I do understand the appeal as you do…

    Mia,
What you called a “western desk” you thought looked wierdin a yurt is a traditional Mongolian table and the little ones beside it are the stools you sit on. They are all hand painted in the traditional Mongolian artwork/symbols like the door, rafters, poles and skylight. They all match and belong in yurts, have for centuries. You and Dan should get together…
