Property Description

ASKING PRICE W/O ADDITIONS OR SOLAR: $6,000

Selling a 40ft by 8ft by 10ft fiberglass shipping container that has been converted to an off-the-grid living space. The container was designed to be a full-time residential studio; unfortunately we were offered jobs in another state and are moving before it could be completely finished. It would be great as a guesthouse, for someone who wants to lower his or her ecological footprint, or as a temporary house while you are building something bigger.
We are currently using rainwater and solar panels. There is a built in queen bed frame made from stained cypress. Kitchen is custom and is being offered at an extremely reduced price. Floors are sealed two-inch oak. Front of the house has French doors and two 5ft double paned insulated windows. Spray foam insulation sprayed four inches thick on walls and six inches thick on ceiling. Framed and dry walled by a licensed contractor. All rot was taken out and walls replaced before the project started.

SOLAR: $10,500
Originally bought for $19,000 ten years ago. Eight 170-watt panels with original battery, inverter, and refurbished charge controller.

CONS: Not hooked up to water and does not have a finished bathroom. Part of floor needs patch work. Drywall cracked in some places when moved, needs repairing (cosmetic). Older container that does not sit completely flat; therefore, required a lot of extra work while framing to have a professional looking product. Still needs cosmetic work. Roof needs to be covered to help with rain run off. We have the materials to sell just never made it there. Outside needs to be painted and small portion of back exterior wall needs siding.
We are selling it for THE COST OF MATERIALS; this does not include the cost of labor, time, or freebees that went into it. It would be impossible to replicate this for the same price. You will be saving AT LEAST $2,000 and a lot of very hard work. This is a work in progress and is not completely finished but has been a labor of love. Anyone with basic building knowledge will be able to finish it with little work. We have been living in it as is for the last five months.

It sits on one acre on 1886 Mills St in an industrial area, just one mile from Railroad Square, the FSU Stadium, and FAMU. There are several studios and workshops south of the property on Mills St. There is another semi trailer on the property that can be used for storage or another similar project. The owner of the property is an amazing guy and welcomes fresh ideas. The rent is extremely cheap. If you’d like to move the container you’ll have to make the arrangements separately from this purchase.

This has been a labor of love and we hate to leave it unfinished.
