A few things you should know about living in this tiny space.....

The hot water heater is an outdoor mounted unit NOT made for super cold climates. It can be used in all seasons and climates but needs to be drained properly prior to freezing temperatures when not in use. Checking the weather would become part of your daily routine in the winter time.

The wood stove is so small and cute, you’ll get many comments from guests about it...everybody wants one! It is a solid fuel heater, not just your average wood stove, and thus can burn just about anything. Due to it’s small size however, it can only burn small things, and will not burn very long without adding fuel to it. So, it’s likely you’ll often wake up to a cold house. The backup electric small electric unit can come in handy sometimes, but does use a fair amount of electricity (so keep that in mind).

The daybed has a super cozy 6” natural latex mattress/cushion and makes a great extra sleeping space (for those under 6’), and there’s tons of hidden storage underneath

The compost toilet is great, but keep in mind you will need a place to compost it, and it will probably need to be emptied once a week or more. The Humanure Handbook is a great resource.

The house is wired just like a “normal” house with it’s own small electrical panel, and set up like an RV where it just needs to be plugged in to a power source. Any 15 or 20 Amp outlet/circuit will do. Just keep in mind the longer the cord is to reach this source the more energy that is lost in transit.

The house is plumbed just like a “normal” house too, with an RV hose attachment on the exterior. The 2 drains coming out of the house however do not lead into a septic or sewer like most houses, it just directly drains out. Depending on the permanence of it’s location, a drain field or greywater filtration system can be installed. 1 drinking safe hose provided.

Cutting board countertop needs occasional waxing to preserve the surface (~once a month)

Whole house water filter pre-filter needs to be removed and rinsed every 6-9 months. Main filter replaced as needed (approx every year depending on use). Both are quick and easy to do.

I am very interested in renting this charming house. It would be located on property where my horse is stabled, and would have access to everything required. I am in Mobile, Alabama, I want to put the house in Semmes, AL which is a tiny little community right across the Mobile City line, 5 miles from my house and barn. So how would I get it to Mobile? Thanks you!!
